Playground upgrade creates joy at Wyndham Vale YMCA Early Learning Centre

Playground upgrade creates joy at Wyndham Vale YMCA early learning centre Works to improve the playground at Wyndham Vale YMCA (the Y) Early Learning Centre thanks to the Victorian Government’s Building Blocks Grants were met with joyful faces from the children and educators this week.

Federal Member for Lalor Joanne Ryan MP, newly elected Member for Werribee John Lister MP and Y Victoria CEO Carolyn Morris dropped by to meet children and educators at the Y early learning centre. More than $94,000 in state funding has enabled the landscaping work as well as new large shade sails that are about to be installed.

Carolyn thanked the Victorian Government for funding the outdoor works, which are almost complete. “The children have been watching the works with excitement as they’ve seen the outdoor spaces transform to inviting play areas.”

Creating welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces is our priority at the Y. Children benefit from outdoor play in all seasons, which is why shade sails and play spaces need to be accessible to all Y Victoria CEO Carolyn Morris

News of the additional inclusion grant funding as part of the Building Blocks Grant was also welcomed.

“As part of the latest round of this grant more than $11,000 is allocated towards inclusion and IT resources at Wyndham Vale. This funding is another important boost towards ensuring inclusive child-centred learning is available for each child,” Carolyn said.

Centre Manager Deepali Sharma was on hand to support the children who shared a special Acknowledgement to Country they had been working on. They also shared their artwork and learning about Indigenous culture.

“The support of our local members at the Y today is so encouraging. Quality early learning is one of the most powerful investments we can make in a child’s future,” Carolyn added.
